While computation (AI) will clearly play a role in solving the climate change crisis - I strongly hope it will be *in service of* the intelligence inherit in culture, society & nature. Let's not forget, that its technocratic logic that lead to climate change in the first place. #FFHCI
Amongst the many different types of climate change & species extinction deniers, this I find the worst: "The postmodern technocratic intellectual". He accepts that it's happening but says "that's the course of evolution, its fine" or "AI will take over" or "We are going to mars". #FFHCI
Google’s nature explorer has 3 machine learning models based on MobileNet, trained on photos contributed by the iNaturalist community.
These models are built to recognize 4,080 different species (~960 birds, ~1020 insects, ~2100 plants): https://aiyprojects.withgoogle.com/model/nature-explorer #ML #FFHCI

Lessons:
- Convert cultural to economic capital
- Shift from a quantitative-based to a qualitative-based economy.
- Lead not follow: export the future, not import it.
- Move/protect the culture with a vision
